Social Enterprise UK has just announced plans to build on the success of Social Enterprise day and further ratchet up wider public awareness of social enterprise.
Beginning this year, the 13th September will be Social Saturday and plans are already afoot to hold a day-long festival and marketplace for social enterprise hosted by Digbeth Social Enterprise Quarter.
The aim of Social Saturday is to:
- Engage local councils, MPs, government ministers and big business.
- Mobilise groups and communities to raise awareness of social enterprise within towns, cities and villages.
- Spark a national PR campaign to raise awareness of social enterprises and the role they play in society.
- Encourage people to share on Twitter and Facebook events and activities happening across the UK.

And while we’re on the subject of the Digbeth Social Enterprise Quarter, a big reminder please to Digbeth/Highgate social enterprises that have not yet completed iSE’s survey.
This is designed to capture data about the economic, employment and social contribution social enterprises in the Quarter are already making and will form the basis for the continuing development of the Quarter, including fundraising efforts. Please take part — make a few minutes to complete the questionnaire.
→ Download the questionnaire (MS Word form document). Ignore the 30/04/14 deadline — iSE wants to hear from you and will include all completed survey forms just as soon as you can submit them!
