London voluntary sector service-users challenge London Councils’ spending cuts — High Court rules in their favour

Service-users of various London charities and voluntary organisations have challenged the decision by London Councils to ‘repatriate’ £16.5m from voluntary sector funding back to local authorities — resulting in a High Court judge ruling in their favour.

The decision failed to meet statutory equality duties, says Mr Justice Calvert-Smith, and the consultation must be re-run with a full equality impact assessment which examines the potential impact on thousands of service users. Read the story here in Third Sector Online.
