Andrew Lansley has just launched Right to Provide (which has been covered in the Guardian here and in the Nursing Times here). £10m will be available through the social enterprise investment fund.

There will also be a new system of ‘qualified’ providers — a one-off qualification system so people don’t have to keep re-tendering. Interesting! They hope that this  will make things easier to social enterprises. I wonder what the qualification system will be like — how will the smaller organisations get on with this?

He says social enterprise is an obvious model for a social market. (In fact, the Dept of Health has sponsored a huge ‘Move to social enterprise zone‘ at conference!)

More rules and more for SEs to achieve in order to trade. I think there will be even more need to organisations to cluster…
