Some may remember that one of the posts here which generated the fiercest debate was this one about the social enterprise call centre, Call Britannia.
Founded by self-made millionaire Karen Darby, Call Britannia hit the news just over a year back. With its plans to establish call centres in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods, creating jobs where they are most needed and offering swift scaling-up, the business appealed strongly to social investors Big Issue Invest and Bridges Fund.
Well, the business continues, but only after an acrimonious struggle which has pitted board members and investors against its founder and resulted in Darby being completely ousted from the company she founded.
