Be Birmingham launches new ‘Social Capital & Enterprise Programme’

Details of Be Birmingham’s new Social Capital & Enterprise Programme are now available on the website. This groundbreaking programme, designed by the third sector for the third sector, focuses on strengthening neighbourhoods, building social capital, and helping third sector organisations to become more enterprising and sustainable. The programme has four strands:

  1. Active citizenship
  2. A Successful Neighbourhood Fund offering grants for grassroots organisations in Birmingham’s 25 priority neighbourhoods
  3. Social enterprise development, including a Social Enterprise Fund offering grants of up to £30K to help organisations grow and innovate
  4. Community engagement

Download the programme booklet for more details, including contact information for application forms and project leads.

The Be Birmingham Social Capital & Enterprise programme recognises the key contribution that the third sector makes to community cohesion and social capital — make sure you find out how it could help your organisation and its service-users and beneficiaries!

Update 11th Sept 2009

Application forms and guidance notes for each of the three funds – the Successful Neighbourhoods Fund; the Active Citizens Fund; and the Social Enterprise Fund – are all now on the Be Birmingham website.

Can you tell me if this fund would be available to Organisations in Sandwell?

    Thank you

Hello Tonia: I don’t think so. The programme is linked to Local Area Agreement outcomes in Birmingham. Given this I believe it will be Birmingham-specific, open only to third sector organisations and social enterprises based in and operating in Birmingham.
