Advice sector gets its own “TLI programme”

Those familiar with the recent Transforming Local Infrastructure programme, the Cabinet Office / BIG Lottery fund to enable providers of infrastructure support to transform services and adapt to the new economic conditions, will understand what I mean when I say that the advice sector is about to get a similar programme.

Announced in Third Sector Online today, the £65m Cabinet Office / BIG Lottery “Advice Services Transition Fund” acknowledges that funding for not-for-profit advice is falling dramatically while economic hardship is fuelling a massive increase in demand for such services.

Backed by a new report on the future of free advice services, the fund — which opened on the 26th October and closes to applications on the 28th Jan 2013 — will offer grants for transformation of between £50,000 and £350,000.
